29 May – Another gig for your diary!!

March 13, 2010 1 comment

Was perusing Victoria Vox’s website – as one does (http://www.victoriavox.com/) – and amongst her tour dates is one you’re going to want to write in your diary!

Saturday, 29 May at the Leith Folk Club

Victoria does a tremendous gig, featuring her own tunes with ukulele accompaniment (of course!) and a mean mouth trumpet. Honestly, there’s nothing like getting to hear Victoria live.

Also on the bill is Brigid Kaelin.

I hadn’t heard of Brigid, but according to her website (http://www.brigidkaelin.com/index.html), Brigid is plucky and plays a variety of instruments, including accordion and musical saw in an “americana” stylee. If she’s anywhere near as entertaining as Victoria, it’s going to be one spectacular evening.

Be there or be missing out – big time!

a belated “thank you and goodnight”

September 7, 2009 4 comments

Hey all, I know its a wee bit late but just wanted to send a huge thank you to everyone: the Troon gig crew for all your efforts and enthusiasm (absolute highlight of my Scottish adventure!); everyone who wanted to play Troon but couldn’t; everyone who made it to my last ukearist; and indeed everyone who didn’t! And the very lovely staff at Sofi’s too for that matter!

I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed every ukearist moment, thanks to you all, and I’m absolutely stoked about how it’s all worked out and will continue to, no doubt!

Big thanks especially to John and Chris. I look forward to hearing about future ukearist escapades and I promise to share with you any exciting developments within the Ukearist Southern Division.

Off now for a cup of tea in that marvellous mug. And perhaps a wee strum too 🙂 See you on the flipside.

Arohanui,

Shane

Shane’s last ukearist tonight!

August 17, 2009 Comments off

A quick reminder that it’s Shane’s last ukearist tonight before he leaves Edinburgh bound for his Antipodean homeland. So if you want to see him for one last strum and rousing chorus of ‘Like A Prayer’ tonight would be the night to come!

updates to songbook section

August 9, 2009 Comments off

Hi all, you’ll find a few more songsheets uploaded to the songbooks section; mostly new tunes we’re trying to work on for the Troon gig. Some of those songs can be found on Richard G’s excellent ukulele site, some are contained in a chordie songbook I’ve set up. Enjoy!
