Ukulele Club of Virginia Songbook

May 24, 2010 Comments off

The Ukulele Club of Virginia have just produced a massive songbook and made it available to everyone for free. Why not take a look through and see if there’s any songs you fancy trying at the ukearist. Just print of 15 or so copies of your chosen song and bring them along, always fun to have new songs to try!

You can also download individual word files of the songs.

Chords and tab site found by Tim

March 12, 2010 2 comments

Ukearist uker Tim has passed on the details of a natty little site for uke chords and tabs – take a look here:

http://muffin.net.nz/muffin/Tablature.html

It has chords and melody lines on the same tab which would be really great to work on together at the Ukearist. If anyone has suggestions for some that we might like to try then feel free to print off a few copies or let me know and I’ll do the same and bring them along on a Monday

Christmas Ukearist!

November 23, 2009 2 comments

Getting into the festive spirit the Ukearist on the 21st December will have a Christmassy theme and we will play lots, many or exclusively Christmas songs depending on how we feel on the night.  “But where will all of these Christmas songs come?” from I hear you ask.  The Taunton Ukulele Strummers Christmas Song Book is where.  I won’t be printing all of these songs off for everyone so if you’re coming on that night please print off your own copy and bring it along on the night.

If you have any other Christmas songs that you would like to play then please just print off at least 12 copies yourself and bring them along on the night.  If it’s available on the internet and you send it my way I’ll post it up in this thread so that other can practice it before the time.

Might even have a visit from Father Ukemas if you’ve all been good boys and girls!

After the Ukearist will be heading to sofis for traditional Ukearist Christmas drinks, hope plenty of you can make it!

Here’s a few more Christmas songs that I’ve come across that we could have a crack at:

Ode To Joy

October 6, 2009 2 comments

At the last ukearist we talked about playing the multi-parted Ode To Joy as performed by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain at the proms this year:

You can play either:

Click on the links above for the chords/tab to print off, I will also have copies with me.  There’s some lessons about how to play the song from the UOGB too.

It would be great if some/all of you could learn this before next Monday (12th October) so we can all have a bash at it together, I reckon it would be really fun to play!

Silly Songs for 25th May Ukearist

May 19, 2009 3 comments

Thought it would be fun to have a crack at a couple of very silly songs at the forthcoming Ukearist…

  • Combine Harvester
  • – I particularly want you all to practise your best west country accent, free pint of cider in the pub afterwards for the best.

  • Lumberjack Song
  • – Free girly cocktail with a cherry on a stick and parasol for any men who actually come wearing suspenders and a bra, or women who come dressed as a lumberjack.

I’ll see if I can sort a few more out before Monday, watch this space! Additional silly song suggestions welcome!

And on the Fifth Day the flying ukulele monster created Ukearist Song Books

March 15, 2009 Comments off

The moment you have all been waiting for is here! We finally-sort-of have some publicly available chords and lyrics for you print off from the ukearist nights! I say sort of, as I have so far only got around to doing the chords for a few songs. I will be adding more in the coming weeks as and when I have the time and ultimately compiling these into song books featuring our ukearist favourites so that folk can bring these along to the nights and practice at home.

Catch you all tomorrow night!
