Last night’s meeting

July 31, 2012 Comments off

The Rainy Night was a great success, and thanks to Eddie & Co from Seattle for helping to make it so – enjoy the rest of your visit to Soggy Scotland. Another themed night will be announced at some point (all suggestions welcome!), but in the meantime it’s back to the usual semi-random mix for the next meeting on 13 August.

Next meeting – 30th July

July 21, 2012 Comments off

Time for another themed night, and this time it’s all about… rain! At the next meeting we’ll be experimenting with some, all or none of these tunes which are readily available from Richard G’s indispensable songbook:

Crying in the rain (Everly Brothers)

Raining in my heart (Buddy Holly)

Flowers in the rain (The Move)

Early morning rain (Gordon Lightfoot)

Raindrops keep falling on my head (B Thomas)

Rhythm of the rain (The Cascades)

More to consider, but not in the usual format:

Rain (The Beatles)

Singing in the rain (Gene Kelly)

It might as well rain until September (Carole King)

Rainy day people (Gordon Lightfoot)

If anyone has any suggestions or a favourite song on the subject, either let me know or just bring some copies along on the night.

Last Monday’s Meeting

July 20, 2012 1 comment

For anyone who may be wondering what it is we get up to every other Monday in Sunny Leith, here’s a list of the songs we chose to stumble/sail through at our last meeting (not including any that I failed to write down and now can’t remember):

Your cheating heart (Hank Williams)

Good riddance/Time of your life (Green Day)

Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)

Well respected man (Kinks)

Happy together (Turtles)

Urban spaceman (Bonzo Dog Band/Neil Innes)

The weight (The Band/Robbie Robertson)

Waterloo sunset (Kinks)

What a day for a daydream (Lovin’ Spoonful)

Don’t think twice (Bob Dylan)

This wheel’s on fire (Bob Dylan)

Button up your overcoat (Henderson/DeSylva/Brown)
