Edinburgh Festival Uke Action

August 6, 2010

Greetings Festive Folks!

In addition to the listing for the Tricity Vogue Monday night open mic cabaret spots, our spies have spied a few more Festy Uke Options:

Helen Arney (comic musician) “Songs for Modern Loving” at the Caves 19.35 £8 (preview 6 Aug £5)

Lady Carol (“sad songs, silly stories, sauce”?- The List) “Malady” Assembly @ George Street 20.00 £10

(also appearing at Tricity Vogue’s first Uke Cabaret on the 9th – that one’s free)

Vive Le Cabaret (MC hosts singing songs along with his ukulele)  Pleasance at Ghillie Dhu (2 Rutland Place – nowhere near the Pleasance) 21.30 £7.50 (this one could be a bit naughty…)

Anyone else found any others?

If anyone goes to any of these, please let us know what they’re like!

Thank you Sally Millar – Ukulele Project was all you said. Great show with an excellent choice of music. I’ve been trying Minnie the Moocher, without much success, for several weeks now – they made a great job of it. Only thing to add, make sure you book!!

The Ukulele Project is a lunchtime session. Anyone interested in going together one day next week or the one following? Just the thing to get me out of the office.

I went to ‘The Ukulele Project’ (Underbelly in the Cowgate, 12.45) It was FANTASTIC, totally recommend it! Four very young musicians – fresh and talented, great choice of songs, fabulous voices, excellent arrangements, good fun! Not too dear – £8 or £9 as I recall. Do go! (maybe book – it is very popular)

There’s also ‘The Ukulele Project’ – Two boys. Two girls. Four ukuleles. From Elvis to Elgar, ‘Greensleeves’ to Gaga

No idea what they will be like, there’s scant information about them.
