Interview over at Uke Hunt

February 25, 2009 Comments off

Al over at Uke Hunt interviewed me last week about setting up a uke gathering.  The article featuring my responses has now been published.    Head over there and take a look at my ramblings, you’ll get to learn a little about what I thought was important in setting up the Monday Ukearist.

It would be great to hear if you have any ideas of your own about directions that we want to take the night in.  I’ve got a few ideas myself from reading the responses of other uke gathering organisers who featured in the article, let us know if there is anything in there that you would really like to see happen at Monday Ukearist.

Catch you all this coming Monday for Ukearist round 4!

Uke Boogie: Ukulele Open Mic Night

February 19, 2009 4 comments

Hooray for an even better turnout on the Monday just been! We’ve cracked 20! Epic 🙂

The next Uke Boogie Ukulele Open Mic night, hosted by Pockets and Alex, is next Thursday, February 26th. It’s at The Bowery (the old Roxy Art House), 6 Roxburgh Place, from 7 until 11pm.

I’ll be there for sure, uke in hand 🙂 Let myself or John know if you think you might be keen to play a couple of numbers; perhaps we can pick a tune or two to whip out on Thursday!

Some photos from the last ukearist

What a great night it was!  I think we had a total of 14 of us there including 4 new ukers, it’s great how much support there is for this night in such a short space of time!

I would like to tell you all which songs we played, but I’ve forgotten – I do remember that Margaret brought a great song in for us all to play wihch was really popular, can’t remember what song it was though!  Anyway, we want more of this Edinburgh ukers – bring in chords for songs you would like to play at the next ukearist.  Keep the chords relatively simple at the moment so we don’t leave the less experienced ukers behind.

We are sounding much more coherant as a group too and even got a few different parts and complimentary strumming patterns going, definitely starting to click as a group!

Next date for your diary is 16th February for Monday Ukearist number 3 at the Language School.

Right, here’s some photos of our merry band of ukers
