Next Ukearist on 2nd Feb

January 29, 2009

Just to remind you all that the next ukearist get-together is on Monday 2nd February at Mackenzie School of English.  All future ukearist dates can be found on the calendar page, this is the place to look if you’re not sure if ukearist is on in a particular week

For around the first hour from 7 till 8 we will be concentrating on teaching less experienced players, so if you want to learn, that’s the time to come!  It would be great to see some of the more experienced players along at this time too to help out with the teaching!

From 8 till 10 we will be jamming together playing various songs, our current song list look something like this (grouped by chords used):

C, C7, F

C, C7, F, G7

C, F, G

  • 500 Miles
  • Red Red Wine
  • Down on the Corner

C, C7, F, G7, G, Am

  • All along the Watchtower
  • Like a Prayer
  • Blowin’ in the Wind

C, C7, F, G7, G, Am, Dm

  • Faith
  • YMCA

C, C7, F, G7, G, Am, D

  • Steal My Kisses
  • Sorrow
  • Don’t Panic (Dsus2)

C, C7, F, G7, G, Am, D, D7

  • Hey Jude

C, F, G, Am, Em

  • Have you Ever Seen the Rain
  • Yellow

If you have other songs that you would like to play at Monday Ukearist then please feel free to print off 15 copies or so and bring them along.  Initially I think it is best to stick to songs with the easier chords so that less experienced ukers don’t get too left behind.

Wishing you all a great weekend, hope to see many of you this Monday, uke on!

Nae bother, it’s a good excuse at least!

Here’s some good links for uke music and other related uke shit:

Loads of good tabs here: http://www.alligatorboogaloo.com/uke/tabs.html

Some nice tabs here and a great site to learn from: http://www.doctoruke.com/

http://chordie.com is really good – just search for any song and once you’ve found it change the ‘tuning’ bit on the right to ‘Ukulele C tuning’ and it will show you the chord diagrams on the uke. There are a huge amount of tabs on this site, you’re sure to be able to find something for you.

My favourite uke site is Uke Hunt: http://ukulelehunt.com/
It has loads of uke news, tabs, chords, music, lessons etc. Worth getting the uke basics ebook from here http://ukulelehunt.com/2008/12/24/get-a-ukulele-for-christmas-read-this/ it’s free, you just have sign up for the mailing list.

http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/ is also worth a look, they have a few lessons and other bits including the busiest uke forum on the net.

http://ukulelecosmos.com/ is my favourite ukulele forum, it’s British based and there’s loads of helpful folk on there…. and arguments aplenty if that’s your bag!

Uke chord finder – http://www.sheep-entertainment.nl/ukulele/index.html Dead useful for finding out different chords.

Play along with loads of Beatles songs: http://www.beatlesite.info/

    Hope that’s helped!

Sorry I couldn’t make it on Monday – I was literally snowed in! Looking forward to playing next time.

Do you have any recommendations for finding ukulele music on the net?
